Case Study: WiseTech Global – CargoWise Newsletter Rebrand

Role: Lead Designer

Project Type: Newsletter Redesign, Brand Refresh, Email Marketing

Client: WiseTech Global – CargoWise Product & Marketing Teams

Overview

The CargoWise newsletter is a key communication channel reaching global customers, partners, and internal teams with updates on product enhancements, industry insights, and customer stories. As WiseTech Global evolved its brand and visual identity, the existing newsletter no longer reflected the company’s premium, modern aesthetic.

My role was to fully redesign and rebrand the CargoWise newsletter, bringing it in line with WiseTech’s updated visual system and improving the overall reading experience. The result was a cleaner, more engaging, and scalable email design that strengthened brand perception and user engagement.

Project Goals

• Modernize the newsletter design to align with the new CargoWise brand identity.
• Improve readability, visual hierarchy, and content flow.
• Increase engagement through better layout, scannability, and CTA placement.
• Create a flexible system that accommodates different content types and newsletter lengths.
• Provide templates that the marketing team could reuse consistently each month.

Approach

1. Audit & Discovery

I conducted an audit of the previous newsletters and identified several key issues:

  • Outdated visuals and inconsistent formatting

  • Weak hierarchy, making long content difficult to skim

  • Lack of modular structure

  • Poor spacing and readability on mobile

  • CTA positioning that did not drive engagement

These insights shaped the redesign strategy.

2. Establishing the New Visual Direction

Working within WiseTech’s updated brand guidelines, I developed a flexible, modern design system for the newsletter:

  • Clean, airy layout with strong typographic hierarchy

  • Purposeful use of the new color palette for clarity and contrast

  • Iconography and graphic elements aligned with CargoWise’s visual language

  • Customized section headers for clear content separation

  • Updated CTA styles consistent with global marketing assets

  • Improved image treatment and spacing for a more premium feel

The goal was to make the newsletter both beautiful and highly functional.

3. Modular & Scalable Layout System

I created a set of reusable email modules including:

  • Hero banner with flexible headline placement

  • Product update cards

  • Feature stories and industry insights

  • Customer spotlight sections

  • “What’s New in CargoWise” grids

  • Multi-CTA footer section

These modules allowed the marketing team to adapt the newsletter each month without breaking visual consistency.

4. Template Delivery & Implementation

To support global campaign operations, I delivered:

  • Figma master design file for reference and future updates

  • Email-ready HTML designs (if applicable)

  • Editable templates in the email platform

  • Documentation for layout usage, spacing, and image ratios

This ensured a successful handoff and long-term scalability.
